Anita S. Horsley was born in New Zealand, and has lived in India, Ireland, England, Baltimore, New Jersey, and Georgia. She has traveled to Central and South America, Hong Kong, West Indies and Thailand. She went to Georgia State University graduated with a B.A in Anthropology, Magna Cum Laude in 1992.
She has been a Nationally Certificated Personal Training and Fitness Counseling from Aerobics and Fitness Association of American (AFAA), since 1995. Horsley joined DeKalb County Fire Rescue in 1997. She graduated top of her class academically and physically.
In 2000 Horsley took first place in her first body building show for Super Natural Body building. In the same year, she attained her POST instructor III with the GA State Fire Academy. She attended Mercer University for her Masters in Education and graduated in 2002, Suma Cum Laude.
In 2004 Horsley was promoted to Captain and was assigned as a station officer until 2007, when she was assigned to the Health and Safety Officer position. Horsley's first year competing in the fire fighter combat challenge was also in 2004, when she placed second in the World. The following year she won the 2005 World Champion of the Fire Fighter Combat Challenge title.
She became a certified Master Instructor for Fitness and Nutrition with the International Fitness Association in 2006. Although she had been certifying peer trainers since 2002. She has certified over 40 peer trainers to be International Fitness Instructors. She also competed in the Fire Fighter Combat Challenge in 2006, beating her personal record by 8 seconds with a time of 2:06.
In 2007 Horsley won the Climb Atlanta event and participated in the Georgia Police and Fire Games, were she not only won the 200 and 400 yard dash, but became the State Record holder for both events. Horsley also was accepted to and completed her first year of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy. In July 2007 she retired from DeKalb County Fire Rescue and moved to Eugene, Oregon.

Horsely worked as a personal trainer at the: Downtown Athletic club for over a year. In 2009, she was hired by the Office of Oregon State Fire Marshal's as a curriculum developer.
